I am in awe and love with my dual monitor setup. I’ve had similar setups before, but never as slick as this. it is just heavenly. even now, with the second monitor sitting idle w/one of my own sunset horizon photographs as its background I am content.
I consider this setup fairly modest. i.e. I didn’t bust the bank in its making.
the (modest) specs of my desktop dual-ocity beast:
- Dell 2007FPW
- Samsung 205BW
- GeForce 7800GT w/dual DVI output
- Opteron 165 O/C’d to 2.5GHz (that’s dual-core lovin’)
- 2GB RAM (dual channel, dual Gigage)
the Samsung, being the newest edition to the setup, was a pain in the ass getting the color looking nice, and text is still a bit grainy compared to the Dell. I choose the 205BW because it is similar in specs and design to the 2007FPW while being ~$150 cheaper (at the moment).
I shall now somewhat-arbitrarily rate the Samsung 205BW monitor, on a scale of 1-10: *7*
* points lost due to: some backlight bleeding, difficult color calibration, annoying menu, and flimsy-cheap stand.
